Middleton-Joffe duo wins 600 Club Winter Doubles Tournament

January 7, 2007 -- Bobby Middleton Jr. (666 series) and Shawn Joffe (630) of Waldorf combined for a 1,296 team series to win the NCAUSBCA Youth 600 Club Winter Doubles Tournament held yesterday at AMF Alexandria. Each earned $50 each in scholarship funds, which will be administered through the USBC SMART program.

Keisheena Waldon (620) of Seat Pleasant and Maurice Lee (589) of the District earned second-place honors with a 1,209 team series and earned $30 each in scholarship funds. Bowlers who rolled the top five individual series also qualified for the Tournament of Champions, which will be held March 4. These qualifiers are as follows: 1) Middleton Jr., 666; 2) Bruce Hanson (635) of Sterling; 3) Joffe, 630; 4) Waldon, 620; 5) Anthony Mclean (618) of Hyattsville; 6) Mike Johnson (592) of Chantilly; 7) Lee, 589; 8) Alonso Kinney Jr. (584) of Clinton; 9) Jin Hwang (582) of Sterling, 582; 10) Mana Rodbhajon (576) of Alexandria; 11) Allen Windsor (566) of Woodbridge; 12) John Kolessides (564) of Great Falls; 13, tie) Antoine Kinney (561) of Clinton, and Michael Biller of Sterling. Middleton Jr., Hanson, Lee, Kinney Jr., Hwang, Rodbhajon, Windsor, Kolessides, and Kinney all qualified at a previous 600 Club Tournament.

Windsor wins 600 Club Winter Singles Tournament

December 18, 2006 — Allen Windsor of Woodbridge (left) yesterday bowled a three-game series of 690 to win the NCAUSBCA Youth 600 Club Winter Singles Tournament held at Bowl America Chantilly. Windsor earned $100 in scholarship funds, which will be administered through the USBC SMART program.

Maurice Lee of the District bowled a 682 series to capture second-place honors and earn a $60 scholarship. Mana Rodbhajon of Alexandria bowled a 675 series for third place and earned a $40 scholarship. Alonso Kinney Jr. of Clinton and Tyrell Brooks of Hyattsville tied for fourth with a 659 series, and each earned a $15 scholarship.

All of the above-named bowlers (including Kinney Jr., who earlier became eligible) qualified for the Tournament of Champions, which will be held in March. In addition, Chris Garvey (654 series) of Vienna, Jarraed Allen (649) of Silver Spring, and Bruce Hanson (637) of Sterling also qualified for the Tournament of Champions. John Kolessides (640) of Great Falls, Va., qualified at a previous tournament this season.

Bacote-Waldon duo wins 600 Club Fall Doubles Tournament

November 5, 2006 — Maceo Bacote (698 series) of Clinton and Keisheena Waldon (656) of Seat Pleasant combined for a 1,352 team series to win the NCAUSBCA Youth 600 Club Fall Doubles Tournament held this afternoon at AMF Marlow Heights. Bacote and Waldon each earned $70 in scholarship funds, which will be administered through the USBC SMART program.

Bobby Middleton Jr. (695) of Waldorf and Shawn Joffe (645) of the District earned second-place honors with a 1,340 team series and earned $40 each in scholarship funds.

Individuals scoring the top six individual series also qualified for the Tournament of Champions, which will be held March 5, 2007. These qualifiers are as follows: 1) Wayne Artis, Waldorf, 714; 2) Bacote, 698; 3) Middleton Jr., 695; 4) Alonso Kinney Jr., D.C., 676; 5) John Kolessides, Great Falls, Va., 662; 6) Antoine Kinney, D.C., 658; and 7) Derek Osborne, D.C., 657. October 28, 2006 — The schedule has been set for the 2007 NCAUSBCA Youth Invitational Scratch Singles Tournament:


The Round 1 starting time for the C Division is 10 a.m. Otherwise, Saturday rounds begin at 2 p.m., while the Sunday rounds start at 1 p.m.




Eckles wins 600 Club Fall Singles Tournament

Rodney Eckles of Fairfax bowled a three-game series of 737 to win the NCAUSBCA Youth 600 Club Fall Singles Tournament held at Bowl America Fairfax on October 22. Eckles earned $100 in scholarship funds, which will be administered through the USBC SMART program.

Jeremy Scaife of Greenbelt bowled a 655 series to capture second-place honors and earn a $75 scholarship. John Kolessides of Great Falls bowled a 643 series for third place and earned a $50 scholarship. Matt Endres of Owings finished fourth with a 605 series and earned a $25 scholarship.

All four bowlers qualified for the Tournament of Champions, which will be held in March. In addition, Chris Murphy (599 series) of Woodbridge, Adam Mitchell (598) of Chantilly, and Jin Hwang (594) of Sterling also qualified for the Tournament of Champions.

Windsor wins Vir-Mar District 600 Club T of C

March 21, 2006 — Allen Windsor (left) of Woodbridge, Va., defeated Wayne Artis of Waldorf, Md., 254-214 in the deciding contest of the Vir-Mar District Tournament of Champions to win a $500 scholarship Sunday at AMF Dale City. Artis earned a $300 scholarship.

Windsor captured the A Division of the Vir-Mar District Invitational Scratch Singles Tournament last month. He averaged 237.45 for 11 games yesterday.

Artis, who began the tournament with a 298 game, earned the right to face the top-seeded Windsor by setting aside in order Bobby Middleton Jr, Waldorf, Md. (239-214), Alonso Kinney Jr., Suitland, Md. (226-216), and Eric Helmrich, St. Leonard, Md. (278-268).

Helmrich earned a $200 scholarship for third place, while Kinney settled for a $150 scholarship, and Middleton, a $100 scholarship.

Other match play finalists: No. 6, Jarraed Allen, Silver Spring, Md.; 7, Mike Marsico, Chesapeake Beach, Md.; 8, Joshua Proctor, Waldorf, Md.; 9, Maurice Lee, D.C.; and 10, Mana Rodbhajon, Alexandria, Va.

Helmrich wins 600 Club Spring Singles Tournament

March 12, 2006 — Eric Helmrich (left) of St. Leonard, Md., this afternoon bowled a three-game series of 718, which included his first-ever 300 game, to win the Vir-Mar District 600 Club Spring Singles Tournament at Lord Calvert Bowl. Helmrich earned $100 in scholarship money for his win.

Chris Murphy of Dale City bowled a 708 series—his first-ever 700—to capture second-place honors and earn $75 in scholarship money. Meanwhile, John Kolessides of Great Falls finished third with a 697 series and earned $50 in scholarship money.

All scholarship money will be administered by the USBC SMART program.

This was the last qualifying 600 Club Tournament of the season. Bowlers with the four highest series qualified for the Tournament of Champions, which will be held March 19 at AMF Dale City. Helmrich and Kolessides qualified at previous tournaments, so in addition to Murphy, today's qualifiers were Verra Diggs of Fort Washington, who placed fourth with a 667 series, Maurice Lee of Riverdale, who was fifth with a 664, and sixth-place finisher Brad Cook of Alexandria, who scored 650.

Jefferson and Windsor earned $75 each in scholarship funds, which will be administered through the USBC SMART program.

Alonso Kinney Jr. (616) and Antoine Kinney (584) of the District earned second-place honors with a 1,200 team series and earned $40 each in scholarship funds. Michael Worth (604) and Bobby Middleton Jr. (588) of Waldorf finished third with a 1,192 team series and earned $30 each in scholarship funds.

Bowlers who rolled the top seven individual series also qualified for the Tournament of Champions, which will be held March 19 at AMF Dale City. These qualifiers are as follows:

Helmrich wins 600 Club Winter Singles Tournament

Eric Helmrich of St. Leonard, Md., bowled a three-game series of 707 to win the Vir-Mar District 600 Club Winter Singles Tournament held at Bowl America Burke on January 15. Helmrich earned $100 in scholarship funds, which will be administered through the USBC SMART program.

Chris Garvey of Vienna, Va., bowled 645 to capture second-place honors and earn a $75 scholarship. Jeremy Crookston of Woodbridge bowled 637 to finish third and earn a $50 scholarship.

All three bowlers qualified for the Tournament of Champions, which will be held in March. In addition, Justin Swithenbank finished fourth with a 599 series and also qualified for the Tournament of Champions.

John Kolessides (664) of Great Falls and Giovanni Ponce (604) of Herndon took second-place honors with a 1,268 team series and earned $40 each in scholarship funds.

Rodbhajon earned $90 in scholarship funds, which will be administered through the USBC SMART program. Jarraed Allen of Silver Spring bowled 665 to capture second-place honors and earn a $50 scholarship.

Both bowlers qualified for the Tournament of Champions, which will be held in March.

Alonzo Kinney Jr. finished third with a 641 series and also qualified for the Tournament of Champions.
