MARGARETTE UNCLES

Margarette Uncles is the only member of the WDCAWBA who has ever bowled a “300” game. She bowled the perfect game on June 24, 1966 at Bowl America Town Center. Margarette was also the first member of the VSWBA to bowl a perfect game. She was the first female member of the National Bowling Association to bowl a perfecto and is still the only female member of the Greater Washington Bowling Senate who has reached this plateau.

After 16 years of bowling duckpins—because of the restrictions in tenpin bowling-—Margarette moved into the tenpin bowling world and commanded the field for 12 years. For a 10-year period, she carried an average of 183 in three to five leagues. Illness in the past years has restricted her bowling to one league.

Margarette, a native Washingtonian, dominated the ladies high average, high game, and high series in every league where she was a member. In her better days, she was in at least four leagues a week. In addition:

• She won three consecutive Metropolitan Bowling Proprietor’s Invitational Tournaments.
• She represented Maryland in the National All Star Tournament in Miami, Florida.
• She is a charter member of the WDCA Women’s 600 Club and was highlighted as the only active charter member at the club's 25th Anniversary.
• She teamed with Frances Stoddard in 1974 and won the A Division Scratch Doubles in the WDCAWBA Championship Tournament.
• In 1960, she won the TNBA All Events Championship.
• In May of 1980, she was inducted into the TNBA Hall of Fame.

It is clear from these fine accomplishments on the lanes that Margarette Uncles is a most worthy addition to the WDCAWBA Hall of Fame.
