Charles E. Marsh was born in Washington, D.C. He retired after 37-1/2 years service with the D.C. Government. He started bowling tenpins in 1957 and was an avid and active bowler. Charlie often participated in five leagues per week, averaging between 175 and 179. He had a 279 high game and a 697 high series.Back to Hall of FameCharlie held all league offices, including the secretary-treasurer position of the Skor-Mor Commercial League for 10 years. During seven of those years, he was instrumental in having 100 percent participation of his league in the Nation s Capital Area Bowling Association J Championship Tournament.
An NCABA Director for nine years, Charlie served as chairman of the Yearbook Committee and editor of the Annual Average Book. He participated on the Marketing Committee and the Paul Mohn Dinner/Installation Committee, along with many other committees. He also was a member of the NCABA Tournament staff for nine years.
In recent years, Charlie helped distribute BOWL Magazine, the Annual Average Book, and league kits to all area centers.
In 1983-84 and 1989-90, he was chosen the NCABA's Outstanding Director. He represented Fair Lanes Seminary and Rinaldi's Shirley Park Bowl.
In February 1991, NCABA delegates voted Charlie a Life Membership.
His many years of superior service to area bowling will not be forgotten: A special spot has been reserved for the late Charles E. Marsh in the Nation's Capital Area Bowling Association Hall of Fame.
