JERRY GLENN JAMES


Jerry Glenn James began his bowling career when he came to the Washington Metropolitan Area in 1957. He has held all league offices at one time or another and organized many handicap and scratch leagues.

He has been a tournament director for all of types of men's and women's sanctioned tournaments and also has served on all types of bowling committees.

In July 1, 1965, Jerry began work for Fair Lanes, Inc., as an assistant manager. He was promoted to general manager of Marlow Heights in 1966 and to supervising manager of the Tidewater District in 1969. He was promoted to district manager of the Washington market in 1971.

He served as president for one term with the Virginia State Bowling Proprietors' Association and for 10 terms with the Metropolitan Washington Bowling Proprietors' Association.

From 1975 to 1987, he was general chairman of the PBA Fair Lanes Open seven times when the tournament was hosted locally. He also served as assistant general chairman when Baltimore held the event.

Jerry completed management courses at the University of Maryland and American University. He attended and conducted many local management seminars and workshops to help improve relations between management and bowlers.

He also organized and conducted many "learn to bowl" classes during his tenure as a manager and district manager.

Jerry Glenn James has earned recognition for dedication and contributions to bowling and is a welcome addition to the NCABA Hall of Fame.
