MARILYN HATCH

Marilyn Hatch has been a member of the Washington, D.C. Area Women's Bowling Association for more than 35 years. She has devoted thousands of hours to the bowling community, serving various positions in the association and state organizations, as well as carrying significant responsibilities of being secretary for 17 years in one league and 10 in a second league. She was also sergeant-at-arms of the Ladies Pioneer league, nominating committee member of the Virginia State Women's Bowling Association, and volunteer worker at the WDCAWBA City Tournament, NCABA Tournament, and LPBT and PBA tournaments. Marilyn also worked to establish the joint association average book while serving on the WDCAWBA board for eight years.

She was a founding member of the Virginia Bowling Queens (VBQ) and has held the position of VBQ tournament director for the past 11 years. Prior to that, she served for six years as VBQ president, and for two years as a member of the VBQ board.

Her work as VBQ tournament director has been extraordinary. She has expanded the membership ranks three times during her tenure and has raised the stature of the group. She has maintained the financial integrity of the organization over the years and has built a surplus of funds through a variety of sales activities. More importantly, area and state women bowlers have benefited immeasurably by the exposure of the four annual tournaments. The quality of the competition, the size of the fields, and the professionalism of the organization has been witnessed throughout the bowling community and benefited area women bowlers profoundly.

Marilyn Hatch has worked tirelessly and, through her hard work and dedication, area women bowlers have enjoyed the fruits of her labor. For these reasons, she is accorded a position in the Washington, D.C. Area Women's Bowling Association Hall of Fame.
