MALTON V. EVANS

Malton V. Evans has distinguished himself as an outstanding contributor to the sport of bowling as a leader, administrator, organizer of leagues, promoter of junior programs, and participant during the many years he has been associated with bowling in this area.

His contributions to the administration of the game of bowling are evidenced by his sound judgment in personnel and business management, his willingness to give his time and abilities to get along and work with others. Mal has held all league offices and was selected by NCABA Secretary of the Year for the 1968-69 season.

He was appointed to the Nation's Capital Area Bowling Association board as a director in 1969 and received the President's award as the outstanding director in 1973. He has presently been elected to 2nd VP for the 1977-78 season.

His accomplishments during his tenure in office on the board of directors have been outstanding. He has served on all and chaired most of the committees within the organization. The most notable accomplishments were chairing the committee that wrote and published the duties for all the committees in the NCABA (now known as the "Red Book"). He wrote and established the Orientation Committee and several others in this process. He also created the Veterans and the Achievement category in the Hall of Fame for NCABA, and completely rewrote the event itself, as we now know it.

As a promoter of the American Junior Bowling Congress (AJBC) within the Washington Area, he helped build what came to be one of the largest junior tournaments in Virginia. This was the first tournament to be sanctioned by the three major organizations for youths simultaneously (AJBC, Fair Lanes Youth, and Bowl America Youth). For this achievement, he received the Optimist Club Award in 1971 in recognition for his contributions to the Youth Activities in the State of Virginia.

The following is a list of Mal's bowling accomplishments in the Nation's Capital Area Bowling Association:
